Mauritian Rasgulla (Indian Gulab Jamun)

                                                                                                                                      (Source: Internet)
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 1/5 cup plain flour
  • 3 cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Half cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
Preparation Method:

   1. In a large bowl, put the powdered milk, plain flour and baking powder.

   2. Mix well until all the 3 components are well incorporated.

   3. Slowly, add water while mixing it until you reach a smooth dough. The dough should be very
soft else your gullab jamun will turn hard.

  4. Make small balls from the dough.

  5. In a saucepan, heat some oil.

  6. Fry the gullab jaamuns on very low heat. This will ensure that it will get cooked from inside.

 7. Remove from heat when they have turned golden brown.

 8. For the sugar syrup, in another saucepan, pour 1 cup water, half cup sugar and add in the 3
cardamoms. Let it simmer on medium heat.

 9. Simmer the sugar mixture for around 7 to 10 minutes until it becomes thick in texture. Remove
     from heat.

10. Put the gullab jaamuns in the sugar syrup and cover it for around 20 minutes.

Your Rasgullas are ready. Serve with sprinkled grated coconut or as it is! ;)
