Recipe will make 36 ladoos and will serve 12.
Preparation time 10 minutes
Cooking time 1 hour
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sugar fine
- 1 cup Ghee (clarified butter)
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2/3 cup roughly crushed almonds
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
Method for Preparation:
- Dry roast flour, on low medium heat until lightly coloured which should take about 12 - 14 minutes. Add almonds and roast for about 6 more minutes. (Keep stirring continuously, to roast evenly.)
- Add ghee or clarified butter and keep roasting and stirring continuously, the flour will be light brown and it will have a sweet smell of roasting. This should take about 8 - 10 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and transfer the mix to another bowl. Wait until mix is slightly warm, add sugar and cardamom powder. Mix well.
- To make the laddoos, take about 2 tablespoons of flour mix into your palm and press gently the mixture between your palms to form a smooth round ball.
- Let the laddoos cool to room temperature before putting into an air tight container. The ladoos can be stored for 3 to 4 weeks.
