Flour Laddoo


Recipe will make 36 ladoos and will serve 12.
Preparation time 10 minutes
Cooking time 1 hour
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups sugar fine
  • 1 cup Ghee (clarified butter)
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2/3 cup roughly crushed almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
Method for Preparation:
  1. Dry roast flour, on low medium heat until lightly coloured which should take about 12 - 14 minutes. Add almonds and roast for about 6 more minutes. (Keep stirring continuously, to roast evenly.)
  2. Add ghee or clarified butter and keep roasting and stirring continuously, the flour will be light brown and it will have a sweet smell of roasting. This should take about 8 - 10 minutes.
  3. Turn off the heat and transfer the mix to another bowl. Wait until mix is slightly warm, add sugar and cardamom powder. Mix well.
  4. To make the laddoos, take about 2 tablespoons of flour mix into your palm and press gently the mixture between your palms to form a smooth round ball.
  5. Let the laddoos cool to room temperature before putting into an air tight container. The ladoos can be stored for 3 to 4 weeks.
